British jewelry designer Monica Vinader will open its second New York City store on Madison Avenue later this month, Commercial Observer has learned.

The retailer, which opened its first store in Soho in 2016, will expand to the Upper East Side with a 667-square-foot lease at the base of Carlyle House at 991 Madison Avenue.

“The opening of our second store in New York marks the beginning of the brand’s retail expansion in the U.S.,” a spokesperson for Monica Vinader said in an email. “Through e-commerce and our Soho boutique, Monica Vinader’s been engaging with clients on the Upper East Side for years and felt confident there was an appetite for the brand in that neighborhood.”

Acadia Realty Trust, which owns the retail space, first mentioned the lease in its first quarter earnings call.

The jewelry boutique will open alongside two other designers at the retail portion of the 15-story building, filling out one portion of the 7,000-square-foot space between East 76th and East 77th Streets: Gabriela Hearst, a sustainable fashion design company, which opened its first New York City location at the building in the fall of 2018, and Vera Wang.

A fourth space, formerly occupied by Perrin Paris is available, according to a spokesman for Acadia.

Eric LeGoff and James Downey of Cushman & Wakefield represented the tenant.

Spokesmen for Cushman and Acadia Realty Trust declined to comment on the Monica Vinader lease.
